Jeffrey Fox, How to Become A Rainmaker book review

In a nutshell (192 pages), the subtitle perfectly sums up what this book is about: The rules for getting and keeping customers and clients. The book steadily and concisely goes through all the attributes, techniques and philosophies anyone needs to be a Rainmaker. A Rainmaker is someone who brings in the lion's share of the revenue for a company.

What I got out of it

This is hands down the best book on sales I’ve ever read. Some of the rules made my stomach turn, but only because I didn’t want to hear it but I knew it was true. I’ve already started implementing what I learned, and it has already helped. What’s more, the author is wonderfully concise, just like a Rainmaker.

What was difficult

It’s never fun when you’ve been lying to yourself about something, then you hear or read something that doesn’t allow you to continue that self-delusion. But while it doesn’t feel good, it is good.

Recommendation

I listened to the audiobook version and the moment I finished I ordered a paper copy to keep. I hadn’t taken the book seriously because of the title but I do now, and I think that you will too. If you are in sales, aspire to be in sales, or work close to the sales function, then this short book of fewer than 200 pages is invaluable for you.
