Robert Kiyosaki – Rich Dad, Poor Dad book review
In a nutshell (207 pages), this is a story of Kiyosaki growing up with two father figures. The two illustrate the difference between income, lifestyle, and being financially healthy. Not always synonymous.
What I got out of it
There is a big difference between the person who makes a lot of money, and spends it all versus someone who works hard, saves what they can and reinvests. The former looks rich, but if you don’t save any money will actually be, in a sense, poor. The latter is creating wealth. The ultimate question is do you want to look rich or be rich?
What was difficult
There wasn’t anything really bad about this book. The story and the lessons are clear and concise. If you’re interested in or concerned about personal finance it will be an easy read.
Recommendation
Definitely read this book. If it’s the only personal finance book you ever read then that’s okay because Kiyosaki lays out a healthy and long-term outlook for your financial life. And if you don’t master all the complexities of personal finance that’s okay because the advice will guide you like a north star. This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I’m sure you’ll be recommending it to friends and family as well.
