Robin Sharma - The 5 AM Club book review

In a nutshell (336 pages), the sleeve of the book offers a warning where Sharma refers to himself as Legendary. Sharma tells a story of three main characters in an unclear place and time going through a long-winded conversation about how to become high-performing.

What I got out of it

Nothing. There was not a single thing that is useful or practical about this book. Everyone is different, so are their lives and their goals. If you want to read this book to learn how to get up earlier, first consider why you want to do that. If it’s because you ‘should’, take a look at your goals, figure out what schedule would work best for that and simply set and stick to that schedule for as long as you see it is helping you reach your goals.

What was difficult

As if the lack of useful information wasn’t enough, the 3rd-grade poetry and flowery language used throughout the book is exhausting bordering on painful. If Sharma removed all the adjectives but one for each concept, thing or person he describes, there would be a lot fewer pages.

Recommendation

Don’t read this book, don’t listen to the audiobook, don’t even read or listen to a summary. Early morning routines are for people who can take advantage of early mornings to get important work done. Look at your goals, break them down, keep an open mind and decide, then modify as needed your perfect schedule. Some people should be part of the 5 AM Club, others the 11 PM Club.
