Thomas Stanley - The Millionaire Next Door book review
In a nutshell (272 pages), this is the seminal work of Dr. Thomas Stanley which launched his career. The essential element of the book is that the vast majority of millionaires are normal people with normal incomes but who are extremely diligent about saving and then investing what they can.
What I got out of it
While his research could be seen as many small studies, cumulatively his body of work is immense and it really is hard to argue against his main point: real rich people, with large net worth, are not the elite few, but rather a group of people that most North Americans can one day become.
What was difficult
There is a lot of minute detail in his findings and he takes the time to explain it. Just about everything you could want to know about who millionaires actually are is in the book.
Recommendation
Reading this book will not be a waste of time. That said, I hope you read this book as much as you can and, if you feel the need to skim or skip some parts, it’s really okay.
